Speeding drivers are to be taken to task in Batley and Spen through a pre-Christmas police crackdown.
The Batley and Spen Neighbourhood Policing Team is to launch a swathe of anti-speeding and danger driving prevention operations throughout December in response to concerns about speeding in the area.
Multiple operations are planned for December and then running into January and February in Birstall and Birkenshaw, Batley West, Batley East, Liversedge & Gomersal, Heckmondwike and Cleckheaton.

The operations will see both foot officers and police vehicles deployed at identified hotspots at key times in which they will seek to both prevent dangerous driving and take action against those seen offending.
Funding for the police resources has been funded by local Kirklees Councillors using The Members Local Project Fund, a ward budget that councillors can allocate to address specific local issues and priorities
The new operation will run alongside the wider West Yorkshire Police drink drive campaign which will run throughout December to warn of the consequences of drink and drug driving.
Inspector Rebecca Calpin of the Batley and Spen NPT, said: “We are well aware of residents’ concerns regarding recent instances of speeding and dangerous driving in Batley and Spen and do share them.
“My officers have been working with colleagues at Safer Kirklees to put an operation in place to clamp down on such driving which is clearly even more dangerous in the sort of wintry conditions we are now seeing on our roads.
