‘Perfect reviews’ from guests give two local holiday lets national recognition

Jannine Shelton and Ella Gallagher, who own No.19, and Deborah Furness – of Over the Arch – were winners in an awards programme run by Sykes Holiday Cottages.

The annual Sykes Stars initiative honours holiday home owners who have achieved outstanding guest feedback during the previous 12 months.

Both Haworth lets were among just 33 across the UK to receive three ‘Perfect 10’ certificates. To qualify, owners must have at least six ‘perfect reviews’ from guests each quarter. And Over the Arch also notched up a fourth certificate.

Jannine and Ella bought their two-bedroom property, just off the village’s main street, during the pandemic.

They then spent 18 months renovating the cottage.

Jannine says: “We’re so pleased to receive such positive feedback from our guests – in fact, reading the comments in our guest book has to be one of our favourite things about holiday letting.

“We’ve worked hard to make the cottage a place where people can come and create wonderful memories, so finding out that we’d won a Sykes Star award was the icing on top of the cake.”

Over the Arch is a second-floor apartment at the Bridgehouse Mills site.

Deborah runs the holiday let with her partner Ben.

She says: “I’m really proud to have been named a Sykes Star, and for a second year running.

“We absolutely love holiday letting and never tire of hearing guests say how much they’ve enjoyed their stay and the area. To anyone thinking of getting into the industry, we can’t recommend it enough.”

James Shaw, managing director of Sykes Holiday Cottages, says: “We love celebrating the incredible variety of holiday lets across the UK, and our Sykes Stars represent some of the very best of what’s on offer.

“It’s a privilege to recognise owners like these in Haworth who go above and beyond to deliver unforgettable experiences for their guests. Our winners play a vital role in shaping the UK holiday let market, especially as demand for unique, high-quality stays continues to grow.

“With West Yorkshire remaining a top choice for staycations, we’re excited to see how they continue to set new standards.”
